Chicken Shop Burglar Caught in Vellakovil with ₹50,000 Stolen Cash

In Vellakovil, Tirupur district, a burglar broke into Veerakkumar Chicken Shop and stole ₹50,000. The thief was captured after investigation and surveillance footage helped the police in nabbing him.


Tirupur: A notorious burglary incident unfolded at the Veerakkumar Chicken Shop in Vellakovil, near Kangayam in Tirupur district, where a burglar forcefully entered and stole ₹50,000 in cash on the night of April 30.

The next morning, the shop owner and workers were shocked to find the locks broken. The owner immediately reported the incident to the Vellakovil police station. Utilizing CCTV footage near the shop, the police launched a detailed search operation.



Following the investigation, on the morning of the next day, the police arrested Mahendran, a 19-year-old from Alandur area of Nagapattinam district.



The stolen cash was recovered from Mahendran, who was then presented at the court and subsequently remanded to Coimbatore jail.
