The annual Chithirai Chariot Festival was conducted at the Viliyattu Muthumariamman Temple in the Kottaimedu area near Eswaran Koil Street, witnessing enthusiastic participation from devotees performing various rituals.

Coimbatore: The streets surrounding the Viliyattu Muthumariamman Temple in Kottaimedu gleamed with festivity as the annual Chariot Festival took place this month. Organized by the Kottaimettu Sunni Jamaath on Eswaran Koil Street, the event attracted a large crowd of devotees.

Devotees intricately decorated themselves and carried fire pots and milk pots during their ceremonial procession around the temple. This traditional display of devotion is part of the celebrations held every year during the Tamil month of Chithirai.

At around 12:30 AM, the local mosque and the Muslim community generously distributed cakes, cool drinks, and water bottles to the participants, emphasizing the communal harmony in the area. This gesture of goodwill highlights the close-knit relationship between different religious communities in Kottaimedu.
