Man Arrested for Stealing 50 Sovereigns of Gold Coins in Coimbatore

In Coimbatore, a man named Muthukumar stole 50 sovereigns of gold coins from a newly opened jewelry store in R.S. Puram and was later arrested by the police in Madurai.

Coimbatore: A daring theft involving 50 sovereigns of gold coins has led to the arrest of a young man, Muthukumar, who had been part of the staff at a newly inaugurated jewelry shop in R.S. Puram, managed by one Pichandi. The store owner, Sridevi, aged 44, from Sowripalayam, opened the jewelry shop about 10 days ago, which quickly fell victim to this major theft.

Muthukumar, sharing the room with Pichandi, opportunistically took the store keys last Thursday under the pretense of cleaning the shop. When Pichandi returned shortly after, Muthukumar was nowhere to be found, and it was soon discovered that 50 sovereigns of gold coins were missing.

Upon notification, the police were able to utilize surveillance footage, which clearly captured Muthukumar opening the locker and taking the gold coins. Following an intensive investigation and the formation of two special teams, the police apprehended Muthukumar hiding in Madurai yesterday, April 27th, and successfully recovered the stolen gold coins.

This incident underscores the critical importance of stringent security measures in handling valuable items within commercial establishments.
