Man Arrested for Threatening with Knife and Stealing Money in Coimbatore

A man threatened a financier with a knife and stole Rs. 1200 near the RS Puram Uzhavar Sandhai in Coimbatore. The accused has been identified and arrested following the complaint.


Coimbatore: In a recent incident that created panic among locals, a man has been arrested for threatening another individual with a knife and stealing money. The victim, identified as Karthikeyan, a 33-year-old financier from Thudiyalur, was walking near the RS Puram Uzhavar Sandhai on April 26 to meet a friend when he was intercepted by a young man demanding money.

When Karthikeyan refused to comply, the assailant, driven by rage, brandished a knife at him and forcibly took Rs. 1200. The commotion attracted some locals who rushed to the scene; however, the perpetrator threatened them too, claiming to be a major rowdy of the area, and fled.

Karthikeyan reported the incident at the RS Puram Police Station. Based on his complaint, the police registered a case and began an investigation. The investigation led to the identification of the accused as Vignesh, a 34-year-old resident of Rathinapuri Ambedkar Nagar, Coimbatore. He was subsequently arrested and presented in court, where he was remanded to custody.

This event highlights the ongoing issues of public safety and crime in bustling market areas, prompting local authorities to consider increased security measures.
