Udumalai Mariamman Temple Festival Transforms Night Into Day with Fireworks

The Mariamman Temple Festival in Udumalai, which started on April 9, highlighted its main event, the chariot procession on April 25, followed by spectacular fireworks lighting up the night sky.

Coimbatore: The vibrant ambiance of the Mariamman Temple Chariot Festival in Udumalai continues to captivate attendees.

The festivities began earlier this month on April 9, with traditional rituals and culminated in a grand chariot procession held on April 25.

The focal point of the festival, this procession witnessed a massive turnout. Following this, the fervor extended into the night with the ‘Amman’ idols engaging in a ceremonial procession on various vahanas, including a lion and a horse, which captured the heart of the city.

The procession meandered through the main streets of Udumalai, reaching Kuttai Thidal, where the eagerly awaited fireworks display launched. The skies over Kuttai Thidal erupted in colors and sounds as the fireworks lit up the night, creating an effect of daylight.

The assembled crowd, along with numerous onlookers from the terraces of their homes, enjoyed the dazzling display, immersed in the festive spirit.

Moreover, the explosive event was orchestrated with extensive safety measures overseen by Udumalai's police and local security forces, ensuring the event proceeded smoothly and securely.
