BJP Alleges Irregularities in Voting Machine Arrangement During Coimbatore Parliamentary Election

Recent parliamentary elections in Coimbatore witnessed an alleged violation involving voting machine setups in Sulur assembly constituency, as claimed by BJP members. Complaint lodged with Coimbatore District administration.

Coimbatore: Following the conclusion of the parliamentary elections on the 19th, a controversy has arisen in Coimbatore’s parliamentary constituency, specifically in Sulur assembly constituency. BJP members have filed a complaint alleging confusion among voters due to incorrect order of voting machines in booths 148, 151, 155, 156, 157, 159, and 160. The sequence of machines was reportedly arranged in an order of 3,2,1 instead of the conventional 1,2,3, leading to voter confusion.

More than 50 people, led by BJP’s Sulur East Mandal President Ravi Kumar, submitted a petition to the Coimbatore District Collector’s office. They demanded stringent action against the responsible officials and called for re-polling in the affected booths. Ravi Kumar expressed concerns that these irregularities were an attempt to undermine BJP candidate Annamalai's chances of winning, citing also the omission of various voters' names from the list, which prevented them from voting.
