Diagnosing the signs and symptoms of autism in kids at an early stage and putting such kids through treatment and therapy can make them (kids) feel comfortable and manage autism better. This is the message medical and non medical professionals wish to convey on World Autism Awareness Day that is globally observed on 2 April.

This year, 2017 across the world, 8th Autism Awareness Day is celebrated. In order to commemorate this day, Steps Rehabilitation Center which is a part of the Steps Groups hosted a training workshop for kids diagnosed with autism this morning. A source from this centre shares with us that only awareness about how to make kids suffering from autism can go a long way in improving their condition.

We are told that this workshop offered training to kids with autism on various occupational therapies. Nearly two dozen children with autism participated in this training programme along with their parents. The youngest kid was 2 years old while the oldest one was 11 years of age.

About 20 professionals including occupational therapists, speech therapist and psychiatrists also attended this training programme. This training programme was hosted by Dr. Karthik Rajaram, Director, Steps Groups at the Vadavalli and Trichy Road branches of Steps Rehabilitation Center.

Steps Groups was founded in April 2009. Steps rehabilitation center and steps center for challenged are two nonprofit wings to cater the needs of individuals with developmental, congenital and accidental special needs who wants to help them develop to their full potential. Now steps groups is catering more than 300 children and adults per day across the world.
