In Dharapuram, armed police escorted voting machines from the Government Arts and Science College to 298 polling stations for the Erode Parliamentary election scheduled on April 19.

Coimbatore: In a significant logistical operation, voting machines were securely transported from the Government Arts and Science College in Dharapuram to various polling stations under strict security for the upcoming parliamentary election in Erode.

The dispatch, which occurred on April 18, was meticulously executed under the supervision of the Dharapuram Sub-Collector, Senthil Arasan, and the local police force headed by the Revenue Officer Govindaraj.

Heavy security was prominent as armed police units accompanied vans carrying electronic voting machines (EVMs), control machines, and VVPAT machines - destined for 298 polling stations across the Dharapuram assembly constituency.

The operation involved local police, additional forces from the Tamil Nadu Police, the Andhra Pradesh Urban Force, and the Gujarat Police, totaling 465 personnel including 2 DSPs and 5 Inspectors.

This strategic deployment is part of the preparations to ensure a smooth and secure voting process. All voting machines are sealed and will remain so until they are unsealed right before voting begins tomorrow.
