A source from the city health department who does not wish to be named stated that this camp aims at vaccinating infants who are between 0 to 5 years. Through this camp the health department aims at covering 3.33 lakh children of this age group.
In order to ensure that the maximum number of kids take advantage of this camp, the health department has set up centres in various pockets in and around our city. We are told that 1581 such centres have been set up of which a majority of them around 1337 are located in rural areas and the remaining 224 centres have been set up in urban areas in and around Coimbatore.
In addition to these centres pulse polio vaccination will be administered to children of this age group in public areas like railway station places of worship, religious centres, bus stands through special kiosks that have been set up. About 34 such kiosks have been established in areas that draw maximum crowds in various locations in our city.
