Around 1581 Polio drops centres have been established in the District of Coimbatore to conduct the Intensive Pulse Polio drive, today, the 2nd April, 2017.
This morning, Corporation Commissioner Dr. K. Vijayakarthikeyan visited the Seethalakshmi Maternity Hospital on Brooke bond Road and administered Polio drops to children below five years of age. Corporation Commissioner also interacted with the medical staff on duty to ensure all arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of this pulse polio initiative.

Speaking on this Corporation Commissioner said, 'Close to 1,60,991 children are identified to be below the age group of five within the Corporation limits. Parents should take the children to the polio drop booths and administer the drops to eradicate this disease in total. The booths will be operational from 7 am to 6 pm'.
Deputy Commissioner, P. Gandhimathi along with Officials from Health department and Corporation were present.
34 additional booths have been set-up in prominent places of the city like Railway stations, bus stations, airports and commercials joints to ensure 100% vaccination. 20 mobile vans will also tour the city with qualified staff to administer polio drops to children who are unable to present to the vaccination centres.
Around 6324 staff from health and rural department, Anganwadi staffs, Volunteers from NGOs and Rotary clubs will be deputed at the centres for smooth and efficient conduct of the drive.
