Dr. Edwin Joe, Dean, Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) shares with us that today, 3 patients have been tested positive at the CMCH for dengue and 1 patient is tested positive for swine flu.
Dean also shares with us that the 3 patients who have been diagnosed of the H1N1 virus are currently undergoing treatment and will be discharged soon. The patient who as been diagnosed with dengue is also responding well to treatment. The numbers are a clear indication that that swine flu and dengue are under control in our city.
“During summer season, due to the climatic conditions, the H1N1 virus will be automatically under control. Even dengue is under control in Coimbatore. Unlike swine flu, we cannot predict anything about dengue cases. At the CMCH, we are fully-equipped to handle cases of both swine flu and dengue.” Dr. Edwin Joe says.
Seconding him is an official from the health department who shares with us on anonymity “The city health department is ready with stock of medicines to treat both swine flu and dengue. We have administered the swine flu vaccination to all our medical staff and we advice the near and dear ones of patients who are suffering from swine flu to also get themselves vaccinated”
The Government Hospital (GH) in Mettupalayam shares that no cases of swine flu and dengue are admiited in their hospital, as of today. A source from the GH at Mettupalayam also shares that in the month of March, drugs to treat swine flu were given to about 8 patients.
