Former Minister SP Velumani claims AIADMK has been instrumental in implementing significant projects in Coimbatore and across Tamil Nadu, despite BJP and DMK being in power at the center and state respectively.
Coimbatore: In a strong show of confidence, former Minister and MLA SP Velumani stated that the AIADMK has played a pivotal role in the realization of all major projects in Coimbatore, asserting the party's significant achievements not just in the Kongu region but across Tamil Nadu. This statement came amidst the release of AIADMK's candidate list for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Upon his arrival in Coimbatore by flight from Chennai, SP Velumani was warmly greeted by over 500 supporters from Coimbatore, Pollachi, and Nilgiris constituencies at the Coimbatore airport. Following the enthusiastic welcome, Velumani announced the AIADMK candidates for these constituencies - Ramachandran for Coimbatore, Karthik Appusamy for Pollachi, and Lokesh Tamil Selvan for Nilgiris, along with candidates for 40 constituencies including Vilavancode for the by-elections.
He voiced his firm belief in AIADMK's leadership under Edappadi K. Palaniswami, emphasizing the party's role in bringing about 'unprecedented development' in the region over the past 50 years. Projects like Athikadavu-Avinashi scheme, Smart City initiatives, drinking water projects, bridges, and roads, were highlighted as monumental contributions of the AIADMK.
Velumani criticized the DMK government for not initiating any significant projects in Coimbatore during their tenure over the past three years and questioned their right to speak on issues like petrol and diesel prices, accusing them of failing to fulfill their promises.
He further asserted that AIADMK, under the leadership of Jayalalithaa, had made significant strides, including the establishment of the Cauvery Management Board, by suspending parliamentary proceedings for 28 days - a feat not matched by the DMK's 38 MPs.
Highlighting the strategic victories of AIADMK in the parliamentary context and expressing confidence in reclaiming governance in the upcoming legislative elections, Velumani sidestepped questions about BJP state leader Annamalai contesting in Coimbatore, focusing instead on the broader achievements and goals of the AIADMK.
