Income Tax Department Invites Election Complaints via Dedicated Channels

The Director General of Income Tax (Investigation) in Chennai has established a toll-free number and other contact methods for the public to report election-related complaints concerning money distribution or valuables.


Chennai: The Director General of Income Tax (Investigation), operating from the Income Tax Investigation Building on MG Road, Nungambakkam, Chennai-34, has made arrangements to receive public complaints related to election fraud. Citizens are encouraged to report any knowledge or information regarding the storage, possession, or movement of large sums of cash, jewelry, or other valuables, which could be linked to election irregularities.

A toll-free telephone number, 1800 425 6669, has been set up, along with a dedicated email address, [email protected], and a WhatsApp number, 94453 94453, to facilitate these reports. The department assures confidentiality for the identities of those who come forward with information.



This initiative reflects the department's commitment to ensuring fair and lawful election practices by monitoring financial transactions and holding accountable those who attempt to influence electoral processes through economic means.
