Traffic Congestion in Coimbatore's Peelamedu Area Due to Flyover Construction Work

Severe traffic congestion has arisen on Avinashi Road near Peelamedu, Coimbatore, due to the demolition of a bridge connecting two PSG College campuses, as part of the ongoing high-level overpass construction from Annasilai to Chitra.

Coimbatore: Residents and commuters in Coimbatore's Peelamedu area are facing significant traffic jams due to construction activities related to a new high-level overpass. The construction, extending from Annasilai to Chitra, aims to improve traffic flow but has currently led to disruptions.

On March 4, a bridge that connected two campuses of PSG College located near Avinashi Road in Peelamedu was fully demolished to make way for the overpass project. This bridge served as a crucial link for students and staff between the campuses, and its removal has now contributed to the heavy traffic congestion currently being experienced on Avinashi Road.

The demolition is part of a broader effort to enhance infrastructure and manage the growing traffic in Coimbatore, especially in bustling areas like Peelamedu. However, the immediate effect has been an increase in travel times and inconvenience for daily commuters.

Authorities are managing the situation and have urged drivers to seek alternative routes where possible and to remain patient as the construction progresses. The completion of the overpass is anticipated to significantly alleviate the current traffic woes and contribute to a smoother flow of vehicles in the long term.
