Coimbatore: In a significant step towards fostering education among the rural populace, the Isha Foundation has extended educational assistance to 38 first-generation students from surrounding villages. This charitable act was celebrated at an event held at the Isha Yoga Center on February 25, where students, along with their parents, gathered to receive scholarships aiding their pursuit of higher education.

The ceremony saw the presence of special guests including Maa Chandrahasa, a sannyasi from Isha, Mrs. Savitri, Principal of Isha Vidya Matriculation School, and Smt. Kavita, a professor at PSG Kanya Gurukulam College, who collectively presented scholarship cheques to the beneficiaries.

Highlighting the impact of Isha's educational initiatives, Swami Chidakasha, actively involved in Isha's rural development efforts, remarked, "Since 2005, our educational assistance programs have helped a significant number of tribal children become first-generation graduates. We are proud to support students from tribal villages like Dhanikandi, Madakadu, Mullangadu, and others, as well as from regions such as Mathuvarayapuram and Naraseepuram."

Further enriching the support system for students, Isha offers complimentary spoken English classes and specialized coaching for TNPSC examinations, aiming to enhance their academic and career prospects.

One of the scholarship recipients, Sajitha from Nallur Vayal village, shared her gratitude and experience, "With Isha's support since my first grade, I am now completing my B.Com and planning to pursue M.Com. The English classes at Isha Vidya School have notably improved my language skills, making a significant difference in my college education. I am proud to be the first in my family to graduate."

The event also showcased the cultural talents of students trained by Isha, with performances in Bharatanatyam, Kalaripayattu, and folk dance captivating the audience. These artistic displays not only highlighted the holistic education provided by Isha but also celebrated the rich cultural heritage of India.

Isha Foundation's educational assistance program stands as a beacon of hope for many families, empowering students to break the cycle of poverty and become the first in their families to attend college, thereby paving the way for a brighter future.
