TNRPOA Demands Revocation of CPS, Calls for Old Pension Scheme Restoration

The Tamilnadu Revenue Department Promotee Officials Association (TNRPOA) has called for the revocation of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) and the restoration of the old pension scheme, alongside demands for fair seniority determination and promotion opportunities for village administrative officers.

Coimbatore: The Tamilnadu Revenue Department Promotee Officials Association (TNRPOA) has escalated its demand for the government to revoke the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) and to reinstate the old pension scheme to ensure better welfare for its members. The association has highlighted issues related to promotion and seniority determination under the Tamil Nadu Government Servants (Conditions of Service) Act, Section 40(2) of Act 14/2016, for village administrative officers who have been promoted. They are urging for an immediate clarification and action from the Human Resources Management department on these matters.

The TNRPOA has also called for amendments to Government Order No. 78/2015, which pertains to the promotion of village administrative officers, to eliminate bias in seniority determination. The association demands disciplinary action against revenue administration officials who unjustly impact the seniority determination process. Moreover, TNRPOA is advocating for the prior entitlement promotion for all eligible officers who have passed the Account Test for Executive Officers before 10.03.2020.

To address administrative irregularities, TNRPOA insists on transfers through a general counselling process from Junior Assistant to VAO only. They are also seeking to implement state-level seniority (State Seniority) to resolve confusion regarding seniority. Starting from 26.02.2024, the association plans to wear black badges and conduct a protest at district collector offices across Tamil Nadu, followed by a fasting protest demanding the fulfillment of their requests. Should their demands not be met, a massive surrender of positions by promoted village administrative officers is planned on 11.03.2024 as a form of protest.
