Special Sub Inspector Kuppamuthu was praised by Commissioner V. Balakrishnan for his diligent effort in apprehending a jewelry theft suspect in Coimbatore's Ramanathapuram area.
Coimbatore: In an act of commendable police work, Special Sub Inspector Kuppamuthu, serving at the Ramanathapuram Police Station in Coimbatore, has been officially recognized for his role in apprehending a suspect involved in a jewelry robbery.
The incident occurred the night before last (Feb. 18) as Kuppamuthu was returning home from duty on his two-wheeler through Gandhipuram.
While on VKK Menon Road, a distressing scene unfolded as an individual snatched jewelry from a woman and fled. This act was witnessed by Vasantha Kumar, a local resident, who promptly informed Kuppamuthu. Together, they pursued the suspect on a two-wheeler and successfully located him hiding near the Women's Polytechnic College on Bharathiar Road.
Upon investigation, the suspect was identified as Pradeep Kumar, a 22-year-old from Udayampalayam, with a history of involvement in a jewelry theft attempt in Rathinapuri before the VKK Menon Road incident. Following his capture, Kuppamuthu handed him over to the Kattoor Police. The suspect had ten cases pending against him, including charges of theft and robbery.
In recognition of Kuppamuthu's proactive efforts and dedication to duty, Commissioner V. Balakrishnan invited him to his office yesterday (Feb. 19) and presented him with a certificate of appreciation, applauding his exemplary service in keeping the community safe.
