Coimbatore: In a significant achievement for the medical community of Coimbatore, Dr. Rajendran K., Professor and Head of the Department of Paediatrics at Kovai Medical Center & Hospital (KMCH) and the president of the Indian Academy of Paediatrics - Tamilnadu Chapter for the year 2025, has been honored with the best Tamil Medical book of the year 2021. The accolade was presented by the Hon. Minister of Tamil, Information and Publicity of Tamil Nadu, M.P. Saminathan, recognizing Dr. Rajendran's exceptional contribution to medical literature through his book on “Maternal and Child Nutrition.”

This acclaimed publication delves into the crucial aspects of caring for pregnant women and outlines the goals, objectives, and recommendations for the health and nutrition of antenatal and breastfeeding mothers. It provides detailed guidance on necessary investigations, the timing of antenatal and postnatal checkups, as well as diet and exercise regimens to be followed. Moreover, the book emphasizes the significance of breastfeeding, the proper techniques for feeding, and solutions to common breastfeeding issues.
