Leopard Spotted Again on Marudhamalai Temple Hill Path, Video Goes Viral on Social Media

A leopard crossing the road near the Marudhamalai Temple complex has stirred excitement and caution among devotees and netizens, with the captured footage spreading rapidly across social media platforms.

Coimbatore: A recent sighting of a leopard on the hill path leading to the Marudhamalai Subramaniyaswami Temple, revered as the seventh house of Lord Murugan, has captured the attention of both devotees and online communities. The temple, situated amidst forested areas, is a frequented pilgrimage site attracting visitors from various parts of Tamil Nadu and beyond. The proximity of wildlife is not unusual given the temple's location adjacent to forest areas, making animal crossings across the temple steps and roads a common occurrence.

To ensure the safety of the temple visitors, surveillance cameras have been installed in key areas around the temple premises, including the foothills and the temple courtyard. The latest incident was recorded by a devotee who was passing by the temple vicinity when a leopard was seen crossing the road. The devotee managed to capture the moment on their cellphone and shared it on social media, where it quickly went viral.

This is not the first time a leopard has been spotted in the area, as there have been previous instances of sightings along the temple's hill path. Such encounters highlight the intersection of wildlife and human habitats, particularly in regions where religious sites are located within or near forested areas. The temple authorities and local wildlife officials are likely to continue monitoring the situation closely to prevent any potential conflicts between the leopards and the temple visitors.
