AIADMK Will Never Accept Uniform Civil Code, Asserts Minister Jayakumar Post-Election

Minister Jayakumar states AIADMK's stance against the Uniform Civil Code, highlighting the party's support for minorities and potential post-election alliance shifts.

Coimbatore:

In a recent gathering at Brindavan Marriage Hall near Chinniyampalayam, Coimbatore, ahead of the AIADMK's election manifesto preparation, Minister Jayakumar made a strong declaration regarding the party's stance on the Uniform Civil Code. He emphasized that AIADMK, known for its unwavering support for minorities, would never accept the Uniform Civil Code, hinting at a potential post-election alliance shift towards BJP.

The meeting, led by Natham Viswanathan, saw participation from former ministers and various industry associations. Minister Jayakumar, addressing the media afterwards, remarked that OPS (O. Panneerselvam) would likely join forces with BJP post-election, but AIADMK is open to alliances with any party except BJP, ensuring a "grand alliance" if necessary, to maintain its independent stance.

He further critiqued DMK's efforts, led by Kanimozhi traveling across Tamil Nadu for election manifesto inputs, mocking their solicitation for petitions in auditoriums, a practice AIADMK does not need to emulate. Jayakumar's statements on OPS working for BJP and potential alliance dynamics have sparked discussions, as he insists AIADMK stands strong against the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code, reflecting the party's commitment to protect minority rights and oppose laws detrimental to people's interests.
