Coimbatore City Corporation Commissioner Advises Sanitation Workers About Waste Segregation

During an inspection in Ward No. 49, Commissioner Ma. Sivaguru Prabhakaran emphasized the importance of waste segregation to sanitation workers, highlighting its impact on reducing workload and operational challenges.


Coimbatore: On February 8th, Coimbatore City Corporation Commissioner, Ma. Sivaguru Prabhakaran, conducted an inspection in the areas of Pappanaickenpalayam and M.G. Road within Ward No. 49 of the Central Zone. During the visit, he engaged with the sanitation workers on duty to understand more about their work.

He advised the sanitation staff on the significance of segregating waste at the source, stressing the need to distinguish between biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste when collecting from the public. Commissioner Prabhakaran underscored the importance of raising awareness among the public about waste segregation daily. He assured that consistent public education on this matter would eventually lead to the community habitually separating their waste, thereby reducing the burden on sanitation workers and avoiding the difficulties associated with waste management.
