Coimbatore Fair Price Shops to Operate Extended Hours for Next Two Days

Coimbatore District Administration announces extended operational hours for fair price shops on January 30 and 31, from 8 AM to 7 PM, to ensure the availability of essential commodities to the public.

Coimbatore: In a recent announcement, the Coimbatore District Administration has declared that all fair price shops in the district will operate from 8 AM to 7 PM on January 30 and 31. This decision is taken considering the public welfare and to ensure the availability of essential commodities under the public distribution system.

District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati released a statement highlighting that this initiative is to address the gap in essential commodities distribution that occurred due to the Pongal gift package distribution from January 1 to January 14. During these days, other regular public distribution items were not supplied. Additionally, the number of government holidays in January resulted in many people being unable to purchase essential items.

To compensate for this and to cater to the needs of the public, the district administration has decided to extend the operating hours of fair price shops for these two days. This measure is aimed at ensuring that all residents have access to essential goods, especially those who may have missed out on regular supplies due to the holidays and special distribution schedules.
