In a meeting convened at the Corporation Office on the implementation of under ground drainage (UGD), City Corporation has urged that residents to come forward and file their consent form along with payment of UGD Tariff fixed by the Corporation.
During the meeting, Corporation Commissioner Dr. K. Vijayakarthikeyan said, 'Out of 16,874 only 1857 applications have been received, so far towards implementation of under ground drainage. In the west zone, 8 wards (Ward No: 10,11,12,13,14,15,20,21), east zone ward no:75, central zone ward no:74, south zone 7 wards (Ward No: 75,76,77,78,79,85,86), hence 17 wards are due for implementation of UGD.
However, a majority of the residents have not submitted the application and tariffs fixed for UGD. The residents are hereby asked to render their fullest co-operation by applying for UGD at the Zonal Offices pertaining to their wards. Any queries relating to the UGD could be clarified with the Officials in the Zonal Offices or Corporation Office.
The residents are not allowed to use Corporation sanitary workers or drainage cleaning lorries to clear their drainage tanks'.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Corporation Commissioner, P. Gandhimathi, Vigilance Officer (JNNRUM), Natarajan, City Engineer (in-charge) Parvathi and executive and zonal engineers from the Corporation.
