Gang Arrested in Coimbatore for Blackmail and Extortion Using Obscene Content

Coimbatore Cyber Crime Police have arrested a nine-member gang for extorting money by threatening individuals with allegations of viewing obscene content.


Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Cyber Crime Police made a significant arrest today, January 13, apprehending a gang of nine individuals involved in a blackmail and extortion racket. The gang allegedly threatened people with legal action, claiming that they were from the Cyber Crime Police or a mobile court, accusing them of viewing obscene content.

The police are currently investigating whether these individuals have been involved in other fraudulent activities. This case highlights the increasing vigilance of the Cyber Crime Police in tackling such sophisticated extortion schemes and their commitment to ensuring public safety and privacy.
