7,06,495 people have benefited from Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam Scheme in Coimbatore

In Coimbatore's Health Council Meeting, Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati said, 3,44,970 individuals with hypertension, 1,93,573 for diabetes, 1,67,952 for both hypertension and diabetes, 24,834 for surgical treatments, and 25,835 for medical treatments have been helped.


Coimbatore: The Coimbatore District Collector's office hosted a Health Council Meeting on Friday, focusing on public health and disease prevention. Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati, who presided over the meeting, emphasized the importance of conducting Health Councils at the village and regional levels to improve healthcare services and gather public feedback.

The meeting also reviewed the implementation of the Chief Minister's Health Insurance Scheme, assessing its effectiveness, and discussed how to enhance the accessibility of health insurance cards to the public. There was a detailed review of the facilities available in public health centers and urban health centers, along with discussions on public opinions about these centers, family planning awareness, and various health metrics.

Significant statistics from Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam Scheme were shared, indicating that under the health scheme, 3,44,970 individuals have been assisted for hypertension, 1,93,573 for diabetes, 1,67,952 for both hypertension and diabetes, 24,834 for surgical treatments, and 25,835 for medical treatments, benefiting a total of 7,06,495 individuals.

Attendees included key health officials such as Municipal Deputy Commissioner Sivaguru Prabhakaran, Joint Director of Medical and Rural Health Services N.N. Rajasekaran, and Deputy Director of Health Services Aruna, along with other government officials.
