Coimbatore Ward No. 26 Initiates Rainwater Drainage and Concrete Road Project

A groundbreaking ceremony marked the beginning of a ₹12.70 lakh project for constructing rainwater drainage and a concrete road in PeelaMedu, within Coimbatore’s Ward No. 26, addressing long-standing public demands.


Coimbatore: In Coimbatore, a significant step was taken towards urban development with the initiation of a new infrastructure project in Ward No. 26, encompassing the PeelaMedu area. The project, valued at ₹12.70 lakh, involves the construction of a rainwater drainage system and a concrete road in the 7th Street of the region.

The groundbreaking ceremony, or ‘Bhoomi Pooja,’ was conducted yesterday, symbolizing the commencement of this much-anticipated project. This initiative comes as a response to the persistent demands of the local residents for better infrastructure.

The ceremony was presided over by Ward No. 26 Council Member Chitra Vellingiri, with the presence of North Zone Leader Kathirvel, marking the completion of the sewerage works and the 24-hour water supply pipeline installation in the area. This development paves the way for the new construction works to begin.

The event saw the participation of key local and political figures, including MDMK District Deputy Secretary Payaniyar Thiagu, PeelaMedu Area Party Secretary SP Vellingiri, 26th Ward DMK Secretary Maadasamy, MDMK Secretary Gudlak Jaikumar, DMK District Representative Poove Duraisamy, Auto Sampath, Balachandar, Sriramnagar Udhayakumar, Venkatesh, Ranjit, Anusiya, Anandi, Murugan Nagar Kokila, RK M Dinesh, ADK Manogar, Vijayalakshmi, Anbu Ullit, and other administrators, along with the general public from the 7th Street.

This project is a crucial step in enhancing the infrastructure of Coimbatore, particularly in addressing the challenges of rainwater drainage and road quality in the city’s residential areas. The involvement of various community members and officials underscores the collaborative effort in urban development and the commitment to improving the quality of life for the residents of Ward No. 26.
