Udumalai Thirumoorthy Hills Wildlife Week Awareness and Celebration

An awareness meeting on the importance of forest and wildlife was held for tourists under the chairmanship of Assistant Conservator of Forests and Assistant Director K Ganeshram at Thirumoorthy malai in Udumalpet Forest Range.


Tirupur: It was advised at an awareness programme that it protects humans from skin diseases and other diseases by protecting the ozone layer from being damaged.

On the occasion of Wildlife Week, an awareness meeting on the importance of forest and wildlife was held for the tourists under the chairmanship of Assistant Conservator of Forests and Assistant Director K Ganeshram at Thirumoorthy Hills in Anaimalai Tiger Reserve, Tirupur Forest Division, Udumalaipettai Forest Range.



The Assistant Conservator of Forests and Assistant Director said that the Panchalinga Falls, which is the main source of water for the Thirumoorthy Dam, originates from the Shola forests at Picchichi Hills at an altitude of 2049 metres and has several tributaries joining together as panchalinga falls to meet the water needs of the people.

It is an essential duty to protect the shola forests which meet the water needs of mankind. It also protects humans from skin diseases and other diseases by protecting the ozone layer from being damaged by storing organic gases such as carbon emitted by factories and vehicles on their leaves.



It is the wild animals that make trees that give such various benefits. Therefore, it is our foremost duty to protect the forest and wildlife," he said. Udumalai Forest Ranger Sivakumar and forest staff were present.
