According to the Dharapuram police, the Bishop Tharp Boys' Hostel is functioning in the premises of CSI Boys Higher Secondary School on Dharapuram-Pollachi Road. There are 24 students staying in the hostel.
Vinith Kumar (25), son of Israel, a resident of Paralai Estate in Valparai in Coimbatore district, has been appointed as the warden of the hostel. He has been a hostel warden for the past one year.
Warden Vinith Kumar used to come to visit the students at the hostel at 7 pm as usual but did not turn up last night. When the students looked out of the window, they found Vinith Kumar hanging from the ceiling fan of the room where he was staying.
As the room had not been opened even after a long time, the suspicious students peeped through the window and found that the room was locked inside. Then all the students got together and broke open the door and went inside. Vinith Kumar was found hanging at the time.
They immediately informed the parents and the police.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by Inspector Manikandan of Dharapuram police station reached the spot and recovered the body and sent it to dharapuram government hospital for post-mortem.
