One SI has been appointed in each of the 15 police stations in the Police Brothers program. They will go directly to the colleges under their respective police stations to create awareness among the students about drug addiction and prevention.

In a measure to create a Drug-Free Coimbatore, the police department on Friday launched the "Brothers Program" to create awareness about drug prevention in colleges.

The Coimbatore Police is paying serious attention to eradicate drug addiction among the youth and college students. In this regard, various awareness programs are being promoted among the youth through the program 'Drugs Free Coimbatore' across the city.

Already, the 'Police Akka' project is being implemented to solve the problem of female students. In this case, now a project called 'Police Brothers' has been brought to solve the problem of students and create awareness against drugs. Coimbatore Police Commissioner Balakrishnan inaugurated the program at a private college in Coimbatore.

Shanmugam has taken charge as deputy commissioner of police (south range), Coimbatore city, and other college administrators were part of the inaugural.

The police officer said, "One SI has been appointed in each of the 15 police stations in the Police Brothers program. They will go directly to the colleges under their respective police stations to create awareness among the students about drug addiction and prevention. Police will visit all 83 colleges in the city on a rotational basis. We hope that through this program we will be able to create harmony between the police and the students and eliminate the sale of drugs. Also, students can inform the police if they have any problems and get a solution."
