Three locations in Coimbatore fitted with automatic speed monitoring device

Speed monitoring devices have been installed in 3 locations including Avinashi Road, Sathy Road and Palakkad Road. Those vehicles travelling over 40 kmph will be automatically booked.


Coimbatore: As many as 3 location in Coimbatore equipped with an automatic speed monitoring device. The city police informed that trespassers crossing a speed limit over 40 km, you will be fined.



Coimbatore Police Commissioner Balakrishnan I.P.S on friday inaugurated the automatic speed monitoring devices on Coimbatore Avinashi Road.



These devices have been installed in 3 location including Coimbatore Avinasi Road, Sathy Road and Palakkad Road.



It was informed that through this system vehicles speeding more than 40 kmph will be detected and fined.



Penalty will be sent to the vehicle owner through e-challan along with relevant documents.

In this connection, Coimbatore Police Commissioner Balakrishnan said, "The Coimbatore Police Department is carrying out various activities in collaboration with the district administration to regulate traffic and prevent accidents in Coimbatore. As an example of this, 3D speed radar automatic speed monitoring equipment along with cameras have been installed in Avinasi Road, Sathy Road and Palakkad Road. We can detect the speed of up to 32 vehicles simultaneously.

Vehicle number can be registered even at night time. Hence, vehicles speeding above 40 kmph will be immediately fined and e-challaned. Drivers of vehicles within Coimbatore should not exceed 40 kmph. Separate action will be taken against vehicles without registration number".
