Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology facility to detect fake tax benefits - Income Tax Department

Those who get tax benefits by giving false information in the names of donations, home loans etc to the Income Tax Department will be detected using artificial intelligence technology. With the use of many modern technologies it is possible to know accurately even if there is an amount difference of Rs 10 or Rs 20.

Chennai: The Income Tax department has said that artificial intelligence (AI) technology is being used to detect fake tax payers.

Those who are eligible to pay income tax will have to file the form by July 31 every year. In this regard, income tax officials said, Coimbatore, Pollachi, The Nilgiris, Tirupur, Erode, Namakkal, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri and Hosur are some of the areas under the office of the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Coimbatore.

Currently, income tax returns are mostly filed online. With the introduction of artificial intelligence technology, all the information of taxpayers is available accurately and Irregularities are prevented.

This will increase the number of taxpayers. The Government of India uses the revenue generated from taxes for welfare schemes for the welfare of the people. Therefore, all those who are eligible to pay tax will have to voluntarily file income tax returns by July 31.

C A Jalapathi, former president of the Association of Chartered Accountants of South India, said,

All those belonging to categories who do not need the help of Chartered Accountant (Auditor) have to file income tax returns by July 31.

The Income Tax Department has started using various technologies, including artificial intelligence, from this year to prevent malpractices. Most of the time, PAN and Aadhaar are taken into account as the main documents while filing income tax returns. All financial transactions of taxpayers can be known through these documents.

Humans alone cannot analyze their reliability because so much information is recorded at the same time. With the use of many modern technologies, including artificial intelligence, it is possible to know accurately even if there is an amount difference of Rs 10 or Rs 20.

If the donation is given to which trust?, if the health insurance means the relevant documents have to be attached. Income tax returns can be filed only if the information provided is correct. Otherwise the technology will automatically reject it. It will be accepted only if the relevant documents are attached and filed.

Since studies conducted on incidents of income tax filing in the past have found more irregularities in monthly wage earners. Those under such sections can file income tax returns without any hindrance only if they submit relevant documents. Depending on the nature of the irregularities, action will also be taken against the auditors who helped them. This is what he said.
