More than 300 tribals from Udumalpet in Tirupur district have condemned the Udumalpet forest department and demanded that the land rights be given as per the Forest Rights Act, 2006.



Tirupur: More than 300 tribals from Udumalpet in Tirupur district have condemned the Udumalpet forest department and demanded that the land rights be given as per the Forest Rights Act, 2006.



Various demands, including that the forest department should grant permission to convert the routes from the land into concrete lanes, have been pressed into various demands.



The procession started by playing traditional musical instruments and passed through the main street of the city, gheraoed the forest department office and staged a protest.

"We strongly condemn the non-granting of permission by the Udumalai forest department officials even after the district collector granted permission to construct a road in the forest area," the protesters said.
