Four persons, including a boy, arrested in connection with a series of thefts in Madathukulam area

Miscreants have been continuously stealing copper wires from electric motors from farmlands in Karuppusamypudur and Myvadi areas near Madathukulam in Tirupur district.


Coimbatore: Miscreants have been continuously stealing copper wires from electric motors from farmlands in Karuppusamypudur and Myvadi areas near Madathukulam in Tirupur district. Based on the complaints, a special team led by Madathukulam police inspector Balamurugan was formed and a massive search operation was launched.

Based on cctv footage, the police were on the lookout for a man who stole a mobile phone from a watchman who was sleeping at a private factory in Myvadi area in May.

The special cell was on the lookout for the accused involved in the incident on the basis of suspicion that he may also be involved in a wire theft case.

During a vehicle checking by the police near madathukulam bypass road river bridge, a suspicious person was travelling in a goods auto which was passing by. The police followed the vehicle and found that it contained equipment, including a cutting plier. During further investigation, it was revealed that Muruganantham (26), son of Ramu, a native of KTL area in Madathukulam, was involved in the theft with the help of his friends.

During the day, the friends used to go to work as a construction worker on a motorcycle and look at them, and at night they used to travel in a goods auto rickshaw and were involved in various thefts, including wire theft.

Moreover, they were flirting with the money they get from the theft. Four persons have been arrested, who are friends of Muruganantham who were involved in these incidents. Vignesh (36) of Thalayam in Dindigul district, Sivasankar (22) of Vayalur and a 16-year-old boy from Saminathapuram were arrested.



The police seized a goods auto, a motorcycle, a moped, 1¾ sovereigns of jewellery, Rs 20,000, CCTV cameras, copper wires and other items used for the theft from them.





Madathukulam police are also investigating whether anyone else is involved in the case.
