Coimbatore: Forest department field staff are patrolling the Nattukadu area under Thadagam Reserve Forest in Thadagam North Periphery, Coimbatore district on Wednesday.



At that time, an elephant was found dead about ten metres distant from the Thadagam Reserve Forest.



The forest officials were promptly notified, and the forest department arrived on the spot and conducted an inspection, finding that the deceased was a 20-year-old female elephant. It's also possible that the elephant had been dead for a few days.

Forest department officials and doctors are examining the matter. According to the forest department, the post-mortem will be conducted either this evening.
