Tamil Nadu's First Automatic Speed Measuring Device on a city road in Coimbatore

The Coimbatore City Police have taken a step to address the traffic . They have decided to install six automatic speed gauges on Avinashi Road, Sathyamangalam Road and Palakkad Road at an estimated cost of Rs 40 lakh. This step is aimed at preventing accidents caused due to over-speeding and easing the traffic congestion in the city.


Coimbatore: For the first time in Tamil Nadu, the city police have opted to put an automatic speed measurement device on a city road in Coimbatore, and an experimental speed gauge has been installed on Avinashi Road.

The city police are implementing a variety of initiatives to reduce traffic congestion and prevent violations in Coimbatore. To avoid accidents caused by speeding, the city police have planned to install six automatic speed gauges on Avinashi Road, Sathyamangalam Road, and Palakkad Road at a cost of Rs 40 lakh.



The device was initially deployed on Avinashi Road in Coimbatore. Vehicles exceeding the 40-kmph speed limit will be recorded by cameras, and a fine will be levied, along with a receipt. It should be noted that this is the first time in Tamil Nadu that an automatic speed gauge has been installed in the Coimbatore city area, whereas highways are generally equipped with automatic speed gauges.
