RTO office-bearer killed while trying to cross road after being hit by truck on Madukkarai highway

Tragedy struck on Wednesday night when Senthil, an RTO office-bearer and resident of Muniyappan Kovil Street in Madukkarai, Coimbatore, was killed while trying to cross the road after consuming tea at a shop near the Salem-Cochin national highway check post. He was hit by a truck resulting in his unfortunate death.

He was working as a temporary employee at the Coimbatore RTO check post. On Wednesday night, he tried to cross the road after drinking tea at a shop near the Salem-Cochin national highway checkpost.

At that moment, a speeding lorry on its way to Kerala lost control and collided with Senthil, who was crossing the road. He was thrown out and seriously injured.

He was then rescued and sent to the Coimbatore Government Hospital. Doctors who checked him there said he died on the way. The Madukkarai police have registered a case and are interrogating the truck driver, Waseem (20), a native of Haryana.
