Tirupur: The ongoing tar road and government construction work at Palladam in Tirupur district has come to a halt due to a strike by stone quarries and crushers.

For the previous three days, stone quarries and crushers in Tamil Nadu have been on strike.

Thousands of trucks, JCBs, poclines, and other machines from various crusher quarry blue metals firms in Tirupur district also participated in the strike at Karanampettai near Palladam in Tirupur district. They have halted their protest in order to draw the attention of the government.

The strike has been going on for three days across the district, affecting more than 100 stone quarries, more than 200 crushers, more than 10,000 direct workers, and lakhs of indirect workers.

In this situation, the office bearers of the respective district associations will meet at the respective district collectorate tomorrow and submit a memorandum to press for their 15-point charter of demands. The environment department should continue to implement the 2014 procedure and increase the depth of the stone quarries in the year they will renew.

Social activists are also blackmailing themselves in the pretext of demanding permission.

It should be noted their protest is currently going on, with a 15-point charter of demands demanding action in this area.

State treasurer Balasubramani, who had come to see the protest, stated that there would be no price rises as a consequence of the agitation and urged the government to consider it.
