The flyover was built as a four-lane lane at a cost of around Rs 41.83 crore over a distance of 658 metres.

Moreover, there was always a traffic jam as it was possible to cross the Mettupalayam road i.e. the G N Mills Bridge from Kanuvai-Anaikatti road to Sathy Road.

The Coimbatore District Roads Safety Association said that with the completion of the flyover work, it will now be easier to reach Thudiyalur, Periyanaickenpalayam, Karamadai, Mettupalayam, Sirumugai, Ooty, Kotagiri and Coonoor from Coimbatore.
