Traffic congestion on Peelamedu railway overbridge

Chitra Velliangiri, councillor for Ward 26, has petitioned the Deputy Commissioner of City Traffic Police, seeking that traffic police be deployed at the Peelamedu railway overbridge to control traffic and take preventative measures.

Coimbatore: Councillor Chitra has petitioned for the appointment of police officers to ease traffic congestion on the Peelamedu railway overbridge.

Chitra Velliangiri, councillor of Coimbatore City Police Ward 26, has petitioned Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Mathivanan.

The petition said,

There are various streets around the Peelamedu railway overbridge, including border garden, Murugan Nagar, HUDCO Colony, Gandhimanagar, V K Road, Karuppanna Counter Layout.

This railway overbridge connects the area's residents and offices. Everyday, thousands of people travel two-wheelers and four-wheelers for their work, colleges, and schools.

Trucks and heavy vehicles ply on this bridge from 7 am to 10 am during peak hours in violation of the permitted time.

Due to this, the traffic congestion on the railway overbridge has increased and people are suffering a lot. Traffic police should be deployed in the area, and steps should be taken to avoid traffic congestion. That's what it says.
