Celebrates kundam festival celebrated at Draupadi Amman temple near Palladam

More than 5,000 devotees from the surrounding areas participated in the kundam festival of Draupadi Amman temple held after a gap of 34 years at V kallipalayam near Palladam.

Tirupur: The kundam festival was celebrated in magnificent style after a 34-year gap at the Draupadi Amman Temple in V Kallipalayam near Palladam.

The 500-year-old Draupadi Amman temple is located in V kallipalayam village near Palladam in Tirupur district. After a gap of 4 years, the kundam ceremony of the temple started on the 26th of last month with the hoisting of the flag.

This was followed by the Grama Shanti event, which was accompanied by activities such as picking of sprouts.

The main event of the festival was the kundam landing ceremony this morning.

On this occasion, a 25-feet-long kundam was erected and pujas were performed to the prepared kundam by burning the logs for 2 days. After lighting camphor around the kundam and offering prayers, thousands of devotees, including women and children, descended into the kunda and paid obeisance.

The devotees descended on the kundam and worshipped Dharmaraja and Goddess Draupadi in the sanctum sanctorum. More than 100 police personnel were deployed as the festival is being held after a gap of 34 years.

Firefighters and a medical team were on readiness to ensure the safety of the civilians descending the Kundam.

More than 5,000 people from the surrounding areas of V kallipalayam, Kallakinar and Vavipalayam participated in the function.
