Children affected by toxic gas at dyeing plant in Tirupur - MLA, Collector inspect in person

The children suffered from physical ailments, including vomiting, due to toxic gas released from the textile dyeing plant at Vengamedu in Tirupur. Tirupur South MLA Selvaraj personally met the affected children and consoled them. Also, officials led by the collector inspected the plant.



Tirupur: In a shocking incident, children were affected after toxic gas was released from a dyeing unit in Vengamedu area of Tirupur district. Tirupur South MLA Selvaraj and Collector Christuraj conducted an inspection in person.

A private dyeing plant is functioning in Vengamedu area. It is said that adults, including children, in the area suffered from physical ailments, including vomiting, since last night due to the toxic gas released from the water as the waste water was kept unhygienic after dyeing the clothes here.

After the matter came to the notice of the corporation administration, a medical examination was conducted this morning by the corporation's health department officials for children to adults who were physically abused in the area.

Tirupur South MLA Selvaraj, who came to know about the incident, reached the spot and sent the children who underwent a medical check-up in his vehicle to a private hospital for a complete check-up.

Following this, District Collector Christuraj, Corporation Commissioner Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar, Tirupur North MLA Vijayakumar and others conducted a physical inspection of the area and the plant.

Municipal Commissioner Pavankumar said, In the first phase, everyone from the minors to the elderly who are said to have been infected has been tested and sent to the hospital. All those in the entire area have been advised to undergo a medical check-up as there are no cases of any kind.

The pollution control board officials have also been ordered to inspect the factory where the accused has been accused. The next step will be taken on the basis of their inspection report. This is what he said.
