Police have arrested a taxi driver Faizal in connection with a case of death threats to Hindu Munnani functionary Surya in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: Surya (27) son of Krishnamoorthy, a resident of Narayanasamy Nagar 3rd Street, LIC Colony, Selvapuram, Coimbatore. He works as a consultant. He is also the town president of the Hindu Munnani movement in Selvapuram.
Faizal (45), a taxi driver from Karumbukkadai, was already at loggerheads. Surya stabbed Faisal with a knife during a dispute at the railway station due to this previous enmity.
A case has also been registered against Surya under three sections at the Betting Road police station in this regard and the case is under trial in the court.
Surya was standing at a private bakery on NSK Road on Perur Road Sunday morning. Faizal, who came to the same bakery, suddenly saw Surya and said that he would not let him kill him and threatened him with slander in unison.
When Faizal left without doing anything as surya was accompanied by friends Vetri, Bharath and Karthi, Surya lodged a complaint with the Selvapuram police. Based on this, the police registered a case and arrested Faizal, a resident of the Karumbukkadai, and are investigating.
