6.5 sovereigns of gold jewellery snatched from headmaster while walking in Coimbatore

Usharani (55), the headmaster of a government school, was walking near Saravanampatti in Coimbatore, was robbed of 6.5 sovereigns of gold ornaments from her neck by unidentified miscreants. Police are on the lookout for the suspects.


Coimbatore: Police are looking for unidentified individuals who stole 6.5 sovereigns in gold jewellery from the headmaster of a government school at Saravanampatti in the Coimbatore district.

Usharani (55), wife of Raju from Sivanandapuram near Saravanampatti, has been identified as the deceased.She works as a headmaster in a government school. In this case, Usharani was walking near the house last evening.

When she came near the flyover between Saravanampatti Janatha Nagar and Sivasakthi Nagar, the miscreants then came on a two-wheeler and snatched the 6.5 sovereign gold chain she was wearing around Usharani's neck and fled.

Usharani stumbled and fell down and sustained minor injuries. Usharani lodged a complaint at saravanampatti police station about this. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and are on the lookout for the miscreants who snatched the chain of the headmaster.
