Dharapuram government hospital complains that baby has been shifted, parents stage protest

The death of the child at the Dharapuram government hospital was not theirs as the parents staged a protest. Alleging that the hospital administration had transferred the child, the parents also demanded that a DNA test be conducted on the deceased child.

Tirupur: Geetha, wife of Abhinav, a tractor driver from Karungali Valasu village near Dharapuram in Tiruppur district, was admitted to the Dharapuram government hospital yesterday for delivery.

Following the birth of the baby, the hospital administration declared the baby dead.

Shortly after the child was taken to the crematorium by a government ambulance for burial, those who had taken the baby back to the hospital without burying it returned to the hospital and got into a heated argument claiming that the hospital staff had replaced the baby. This created a stir there.

When the Dharapuram police, who came to the hospital after receiving information, investigated the matter, the parents claimed that the newborn had been replaced and that a DNA test should be conducted on the child who was allegedly dead.

This led to a huge commotion in the premises of the Dharapuram Government Hospital.
