Drone camera fired tear gas shells and rehearsed in Coimbatore

While the drones were being procured with the participation of a private company for use by the Coimbatore City Police, City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan witnessed a rehearsal by installing tear gas shells on the drones.


Coimbatore: City Police Commissioner K Balakrishnan inspected a rehearsal for the use of tear gas shells by drones in Coimbatore.

The drones were purchased with the participation of a private company for the use of Coimbatore City Police. The drones will be used to disperse the crowd with tear gas shells in riot situations.

Some modifications have been made to these drones and the rehearsal ceremony was held today at the Coimbatore Police Training School ground.

The rehearsal was conducted in the presence of Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan.

In this, the police gathered like rioters and shouted slogans against the police. At that time, a drone went to the spot and fired tear gas shells. City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan witnessed the rehearsal event.

Later speaking to reporters, he said, these drones can go to riot-hit areas and throw tear gas shells to disperse the crowd. Four tear gas canisters can be fired at a time and alternative tear gas can be fitted in 2 minutes.

These drones are also equipped with cameras. This will not only accurately identify the people who may be involved in rioting but will also be able to photograph them.

Drones can also track fugitives and take photos and video footage. Drones are being used in the Tamil Nadu police force for the first time in Coimbatore. He stated this..
