Two persons, including the owner of a fruit shop, were killed when a two-wheeler rammed into a car near Coimbatore

The car and the two-wheeler collided head-on near Malumichampatti in Coimbatore. Two persons, including the owner of the fruit shop, died on the spot. The police are interrogating the driver of the car, Akesh Kumar, a native of Idukki in Kerala.


Coimbatore: Ravi (45) hails from Orathanadu in Thanjavur district.

He is currently staying with his family in Ashok Residency area of Othakkal Mandapam in Coimbatore for his daughter's college studies and owns a fruit stall called Kandan Fruit Stall near Malumichampatti.

Raman (50), a resident of Vivekananda Street in Othakkalmandapam, is in his shop. He was also working. After finishing work as usual, the two left in Ravi's two-wheeler about 11 p.m. last night.

They lost control of their vehicle speeding near the private company at Malumichampatti on the Pollachi-Coimbatore route and collided head-on with a car approaching from the opposite direction.



Ravi and Raman, both of whom were thrown out, died on the spot. The Chettipalayam police, who reached the spot on receiving information, recovered the bodies of the two men and sent them to ESI Hospital in Coimbatore for post-mortem.

The police are also interrogating the driver of the car, 24-year-old Akesh Kumar, a native of Idukki in Kerala.
