Turning anger into action - The 'Meendum Manjappai' project and the fight against Plastic

Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh are the worst affected states in India as a result of climate change. In Coimbatore, Minister of Environment and Pollution Control Meyyanathan announced the setting up of a committee led by the Chief Minister to combat the effects of climate change.

Coimbatore: A carbon-neutral conference was hosted in a private star hotel on Avinashi Road in Coimbatore. Environment Minister Meyyanathan participated and delivered the keynote address.

Speaking at that time, he said that the seminar is being held with a very small target and the government is taking various steps to avoid the impact of climate change.

Following that, Minister Meyyanathan said, Coimbatore is emerging as a district with modern technology and economic development. Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh are the two states most affected by climate change in India.

A committee headed by the Chief Minister has been constituted to control the impact of climate change. The electricity board, transport and industry are the major emitters of carbon.

China and the United States are the countries that release the highest amounts of carbon emissions. We're in fifth place. Carbon balance is a difficult task to achieve.

The temperature in his hometown has reached 105 degrees. I've never seen so much heat in my life before. We are targeting to plant 10 crore trees annually. Two municipalities, Rameswaram and Rajapalayam, have started projects to achieve the carbon target. The next phase of development will begin in the Kanyakumari district. A carbon emissions research will be conducted in five districts in the delta region

Two acres of land will be restored soon due to the use of biometric methods at vellalore garbage dump in Coimbatore. I am happy that the youth are working towards protecting the water bodies. "We will give a reward of Rs 1 crore each to 100 people at the rate of Rs 1 lakh each to felicitate the youth.

When you see plastic objects somewhere, you get angry. That anger should come to every human being. Plastic products are creating a situation that affects other lives. 'Meendum Manjappai' is a wonderful project.

Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi kumar Pati, Coimbatore MP P R Natarajan, Principal Secretary (Forest) Supriya Sahu, Mayor Kalpana Anand Kumar and others were present on the occasion.
