Coimbatore Commissioner announces launch of 'Octopus' system to aid intelligence division Police

The Coimbatore Commissioner of Police has said that a software to record the data of criminals will be developed and will soon be operational through a system called Octopus, to be used only by the Intelligence Division police in Coimbatore.

Coimbatore: K Balakrishnan, Commissioner of Coimbatore City Police, has stated that a new software built to record the details of criminals will be put into use soon.

A function was held at the Coimbatore City Police Commissioner's office to hand over missing and stolen mobile phones from the public in various places within the Coimbatore City Police Station limits. As many as 170 mobile phones worth rs 35 lakh were handed over to the owners.

Speaking to reporters, City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan said,

Ravichandran, the main accused, has been arrested in connection with the night-time robbery in Peelamedu area. A total of 36 sovereigns of jewellery, an Innova car and Rs 25 lakh in cash were seized from the arrested person.

It was found that he was involved in the robbery by looking at a two-wheeler. We are creating awareness among beat police personnel when the public goes out for summer vacations. There are no large-scale robberies during the day.

A software called Octopus has been developed, and we have a server to record criminal information. Arrangements are being developed to make all criminal information on various criminals available digitally with a single touch. This octopus allows you to save it in the database and use it anytime you need it.

This software is designed to be used only by intelligence police officers. So the information is not likely to go out. Steps have been taken to prevent the robbery by holding a meeting with the owners of the gold jewellery workshop.

For a long time, they build trust and rob them. Action will be taken on the issue of more accidents, especially in the months of April. This is what he said.
