Coimbatore Auto driver attacked : 3 youths arrested after mobile snatching

Sheikh Moideen, an autorickshaw driver was attacked on the head with a knife near Subramaniampalayam in Coimbatore, snatched his mobile phone and escaped. Mani Bharath and Ramesh Kumar of Kavundampalayam and Gautham Siddharthan of Saibaba Colony were arrested by the police and sent to jail.


Coimbatore: The Thudiyalur police have arrested three youths for assaulting an auto rickshaw driver in Coimbatore and snatching his mobile phone.

Sheikh Moideen is from Teachers Colony, which is near Subramaniampalayam in Coimbatore. He works as an auto driver.

On Wednesday night, when he was returning from a nearby TASMAC shop, three youngsters approached him and asked for his mobile.

When he refused to hand over the phone, they struck him on the head with a knife, snatched the phone from him, and fled.

Sheikh Moideen was injured in the incident and was rescued by neighbours and admitted to a private hospital in Thudiyalur for treatment.

Meanwhile, the Thudiyalur police registered a case on the basis of a complaint lodged by Sheikh Moideen, based on the investigation police arrested Mani Bharath and Ramesh Kumar of Kavundampalayam and Gautham Siddharthan of Saibaba Colony were produced before the court and sent to jail.

The incident has created a lot of fear and panic among the people of the area.
