'Tourism Festival 2023' begins at Kandalur near Udumalpet - celebrated with traditional dance of tribals

The tourism festival-2023 began on a grand note at Kandalur near Udumalpet with traditional dances of the tribals. With the onset of the summer season, the festival is being organised by the district administration and forest department to increase the inflow of tourists.


Tirupur: There are a large number of Tamils living in the Maraiyur Kandalur area on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border in Udumalpet in Tiruppur district.

Moreover, there are more than 20 tribal settlements. Kandalur, Munnar, Maraiyur and Chinnar are some of the tourist attractions. This place sees a lot of visitors different states.



There are 52 tourist attractions in these areas, including lush green hills, sandalwood forests, forests, ancient rock paintings, sculptures, muniyarais, apple orchards, parks and wooden houses, luxury hotels, etc.



With the onset of summer, tourist arrivals have also increased. Keeping in view the growth of tourism, the Forest Department, district administration and local bodies are celebrating Kandalur Tourism Festival-2023 till 29th Of this month.



The inauguration ceremony was attended by representatives of the forest department and local bodies. The festival began with a traditional music and dance performance by the tribal people.



On the occasion of the tourism festival, programmes are held in the forest area. Trekking, camp fire, flower show, cultural performances, traditional dances and plays from Tamil Nadu and Kerala were held.

Moreover, since Kandalur is referred to as the place where Lord Rama lived with Sita, thousands of tiruvilakkus in the shape of Lord Rama have been lit on the hilly terrain in all the hostels, in the surrounding villages, in order to worship Sita and Rama.
